Viewing tower on Lake Gardno

A lovely place away from the noise of civilisation. An ideal destination for a walk less than 3 km from Słowińska Aura. It is worth looking around to see Lake Gardno, the beauty of peat meadows, the abundance of vegetation and a multitude of fauna, mainly birds. In the distance, from the tower you can see on the shores of Lake Gardno - a dune, on top of which the Czołpino Lighthouse is built, Rowokół Hill - the Place of Power, the villages Gardna Wielka, Retowo.

Rowokół

Places of Power are energy points of the Earth (Earth Chakras), known for thousands of years, connected to each other by energy lines with a particular concentration of stimulating forces of nature. Rowokół is one of a dozen or so Places of Power in Poland. The most famous Place of Power is St. Gereon's Chapel on Wawel Hill. It is a post-glacial hill located near the village of Smołdzino in Slovincian National Park, about 24 km from Słowińska Aura. It was a sacred mountain of the Slovinians - an ethnographic group inhabiting the area. Originally, Rowokół was a place of pagan worship. Circular ramparts of a medieval sacrificial bonfire were found on the summit. A temple of the god Svarog was also located there. Later, Rowokół became a place of pilgrimage for Christians. On its summit, the chapel of St. Nicholas - the patron saint of sailors, fishermen and pirates - was erected. A light was lit from the tower of the chapel at night, which served as a navigation point for ships sailing on the Baltic Sea. The chapel was demolished as a result of the Reformation.

Lighthouse Czołpino

Czołpino lighthouse is one of the few lighthouses that is away from human settlements. It is situated on a high, forested dune, 1000 metres from the shore, between the towns of Łeba and Rowy, in the heart of Slovincian National Park. Access is via a one-and-a-half-kilometre-long forest track amidst wild growth. From its terrace one can admire the view of the park's nature - moving dunes, coastal lakes - Łebsko and Gardno - and the spit separating Lake Łebsko from the sea. It was built in the years 1872-75 of brick on a stone base with a diameter of 9 metres. Initially, the source of light was oil burning, and it was only in the 1930s that electricity was connected. The lighthouse is an ideal place to admire nature in Slovincian National Park.

Museum of the Slovincian Village

The former inhabitants of the current Słowińska Aura’s territory and its surrounding areas were Slovinians - Slavic peoples who became Germanised fairly quickly. Despite adopting the German language as their own, the Slovinians retained a sense of their own identity and ethnic distinctiveness. Their existence as a community was brought to an end by the Second World War and the great population movement afterwards. The incorporation of the territory of today's Central Pomerania into Poland first meant a lot of harassment for the Slovinians, and then the necessity to emigrate. They were considered Germans, and as such had to leave their small homeland. To this day, only a few people of Slovincian origin live in Kluki and the surrounding villages. One of the places where the memory of their existence and specific culture is cultivated is the Museum of the Slovincian Village in Kluki. Here you can move back in time and experience the interesting life of the former inhabitants of these areas.

Museum of Middle Pomerania in Slupsk

Among the museum's diverse and rich collections one can see the world's largest collection of works by Witkacy - Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz. There are also objects connected with the history of Pomerania, ancient and contemporary art, historical crafts, souvenirs of the last inhabitants of the castle, numismatics and ethnographic objects, old prints and cartography.
